Musyc is a cool app for creating random stuff by accident. It features a well thought out interface. Once you get the pro version by way of an in-app purchase you have access to loads of sounds, the ability to use shapes that have their own characterics (ie smash them into something else) and record a sequence with the Motion Recorder.
While there are similar app around that you bounce objects into something to create a tone, Musyc kind of takes it further. Much further. There are 64 instruments that are organized into 16 groups. What this means is you choose one group at a time and use the sounds within that group. The groups have names like Keyboards, Florida Keys, Digital Woods, Doggy Bag, etc. The sounds, though limited to what group you have selected, are nice. Nothing great but they offer plenty of useful tones to play with.
There is also a mixer section that you can change the volume, pitch, length and pan of the individual shapes. The shapes that contain the different tones are: circle, square, triangle and rectangle. There is also a master volume.
The FX section sits next to the Mixer at the top of the screen. You have the options of 2 effect channels. They both have their own volume and there are a number of preset effects available. These are: Delay, Overdrive, Reverb, Dalek, Compressor. To change the effects you use one of the 2 X Y Pads that feature a Threshold and Ratio value. The effects work well, especially the delay and reverb.
One of the best features of Musyc is Gravity With Accerometer. This will let you control the shapes with the movement of the iPad. So instead of having a shape go off the screen you can keep it bouncing around.
Great app. Not really musically. Get it free or get the pro update for $3.99.
