Description: CrazySpace is a modulated subtractive synthesizer. It features 15 oscillators and 5 voice polyphony at 16 Bit 44,100Hz. There is also a resonant low pass filter.

“Gravity modulation is controlled via the displayed objects orbiting a central point. Each object represents an oscillator in the synthesizer engine. The size of the each object correlates to the oscillators volume. Using gravity to modulate individual oscillator volume creates a movement to the sound which is not present in traditional subtractive synthesis.”

Quick Review
According to the iTunes description for Crazyspace it is the first gravity modulated subtractive synthesizer on the iTunes store. Also the description explains that the objects orbiting the central point is controlled by this gravity modulation and each object is an oscillator. Through the edit screen you can change the size of the oscillator to affect volume, etc. On the edit screen you have access to AMP ADSR, Filter ADSR, Detune Amount, Gravity Mod Depth, change the type of scale via a plus and minus button and add up to 4 octaves to play with. Tilting the screen will make the background stars fall depending on the way it’s tilted. The oscillators, represented as circles have a fixed path, though their individual parameters can be changed of course.

The app appears to have limited appeal. I’m not saying it’s bad it’s just underdone a little. It’s missing real time control. I like to change the filter while playing a note. The edit screen should be integrated on the main page. The quality of the synthesis is fine, if limited, I just see changing a parameter and moving back to the main page to affect the change a pain.

It’s a nice attempt. Get it for $1.99. Just don’t expect amazing results.
