Quick Review
The KORG iElectribe is a faithful recreation of the classic beat box ELECTRIBE·R. As well as including the emulation of the entire sound engine and sequencer it adds several new features, such as Motion Sequencing, 8 effect types and 64 preset patterns to play around with. As with the original design, the iElectribe is designed for instant results. And the results are great!

Under the hood there are 8 instrument parts. 4 percussion parts and 4 synthesizer parts. Effect Section includes 8 Effect Types : Short Delay, BPM Sync Delay, Grain Shifter, Reverb, Chorus/Flanger, Filter, Talking Modulator, Decimator. The sequencer section has 64 steps maximum per part. Pattern Memory has a total of 160 and includes 32 preset patterns x 2 banks; 32 basic patterns x 1 bank; 32 blank patterns x 2 banks. There is an Audio export function (Bouncing a pattern, and Real-time recording a performance: 16-bit/44.1 kHz stereo WAV format) and share to SoundCloud.

Is it any good? In a word yes. You can create complete tracks with this app, just the same as the original hardware unit. Just like other Korg apps, if you don’t have the money for the hardware the iPad versions offer the same for a whole lot less. There is also a Gorillaz Edition of the iElectribe. It might not be to everyone’s liking and looking nothing like an Electibe, but still if you like the band that might be the way to go if you like rough and ready! For $20.99, it’s a premium app but still value for money.
